Metals (gold, silver, copper, etc.) pay no interest. Bonds do pay interest. So when the 10‑year yield rises, investors get a better return from holding Treasuries instead of metals. Also, when yields rise, borrowing costs rise across the economy. This slows industrial activity and reduces demand for the base metals.

The 10‑year yield is moving higher, metals priced in USD generally face bearish pressure from stronger opportunity cost, stronger USD, and weaker industrial demand.
